W. Louis Greenier Ii

January 30, 1942 — March 19, 2023

CROSS LAKE and CARIBOU – W. Louis Greenier II, 81, died peacefully March 19, 2023 at his Cross Lake residence. He was born in Caribou, January 30, 1942 the son of the late Walter and Hazel (Trecartin) Greenier. He was a 1960 graduate of Caribou High School and he married Judi Sutherland on May 25, 1968. Mr. Greenier served with the US Army during Vietnam and was a life member of the Lister Knowlton Post 9389 VFW. He owned and operated Greenier Auto Parts in Caribou for many years. Louis was a lifelong member of the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church where he served on the board of trustees for many years and was a member of the men’s club. Fraternally, Most Worshipful Brother Greenier was an active member of several Masonic organizations. He was a 55-year member and Past Master of Caribou Lodge #170 A.F. & A.M. He was an affiliate member of Fort Kent Lodge #209 A.F. & A.M. He served for many years as the President of the Caribou Masonic Building Association.   He served the Grand Lodge of Maine in numerous capacities, including District Deputy Grand Master for District #1, Assistant Grand Chaplain, Assistant Grand Lecturer and Grand Lecturer. He was elected Grand Master of Masons in Maine from 2010 thru 2012, where historic changes were made which greatly have benefited the fraternity over the years. He also served on many Grand Lodge committees including serving as chairman of the Maine Masonic Charitable Foundation for two years.  In May of 1994 he was the recipient of the Grand Lodge of Maine Josiah Hayden Drummond Service Medal. In 2022, he was particularly appreciative to be named “Caribou Lodge Mason of the Year” by his own Lodge brethren. He was a 33rd Degree Member of the Scottish Rite, and a York Rite Companion. He was also a member of the ANAH Temple Shrine of Bangor.   Louis was also very active in the community, serving on the Caribou Utilities District Board for many years, and was a certified ski instructor. Surviving in addition to his wife of over 54 years, Judi of Cross Lake, are two sons, Adam Greenier and wife Beth of Gilead, and Aaron Greenier and fiancé Sarah of Eagle, CO, one beloved granddaughter, Samantha Greenier, one brother, David Greenier and wife Chris of Hampden. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, Prospect Street, Caribou, with Rev. Rich Rego officiating. Following the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments in the church dining hall.
