Wilma H. Westin

CARIBOU - Wilma Helen Westin, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 10, 2019 in Caribou. She was born March 5, 1934 in Ware, MA to the late Norman and Wilma (Stearns) Hall.  She graduated in 1952 from Wakefield High School in Wakefield, MA. She then attended Chandler Secretarial school and graduated in 1954. She worked in Boston for an ENT practice as a medical Secretary for 5 years. On September 10, 1955 she married the love of her life, Jack Arnold Westin and they were married for 62 wonderful years before Jack's passing in August of 2017.  Jack persuaded his beloved "Honey" to move to Caribou in 1959. Wilma was a long time member of the Caribou United Baptist Church where she was the church secretary for 31 years. She was a leader of Pioneer Girls, a deaconess, and the director of Vacation Bible school for many years, in addition to being on numerous church committees. Wilma loved to sew and spent countless hours adorning her family and many others in clothes she made. She loved to cook and to this day many talk about her homemade donuts and many other goodies she made. In her later years, she loved to do crafts and color. Wilma was predeceased by her beloved Jack on August 6, 2017. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Westin and his wife, Tracey, step-grandson Matthew Brown all of Caribou, and a daughter Pamela Westin of Bloomfield, NJ.  A brother and sister in law, Norman and Joyce Hall of Arnold, MD, brothers-in-law, Mark Westin of Caribou, Paul and wife Joann Westin of Albion, Leland Brown of Bangor and a sister-in-law Jerry Hayden of Madison, her niece Robin Hall, and a great niece Olivia Hall of MD. The family would like to thank the staff at the Caribou Nursing home for the care Wilma received during her short stay there, and Dr. Sherri Dumont for her many years of care she provided to Wilma.  We give many thanks to her caregivers, Linda Hartford, Della Bell and Emily Johnston for love and care over the last year and a half. Friends may visit with the family Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Caribou United Baptist Church, 74 High Street, Caribou, from 1pm until time of services which will be held at 2pm with Pastor Troy Heald officiating. Following the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments in the church dining hall. Interment will be in the spring at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
