Wayne Andy Griffeth Sr.

May 31, 1939 — August 10, 2023

CARIBOU – Wayne (Andy) Andrew Griffeth, Sr., 84, died August 10, 2023 in Caribou. He was born in Limestone, May 31, 1939 the son of the late Maynard and Helen (Kennerson) Griffeth. Wayne attended Limestone Schools, and was a longtime member of the Limestone United Methodist Church. He married Catherine Hodges on February 6, 1960, and she predeceased him on February 15, 2019. Wayne worked on the family farm with his father for a number of years. He also worked for several area potato growers until his retirement. He loved working on the farm, and working with potatoes. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, friend and especially playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son Wayne A. Griffeth-Hurst and husband David Griffeth-Hurst of Charleston, two special sons-in-law, Russell Hall of Corbin, KY, and Steven Johnson of Glenburn, ND, daughter-in Law Sharon Griffeth,  several grandchildren and their spouses, Philip Griffeth of Caribou, James Hall of Corbin, KY, Becky (Johnson) and Jon Meidinger Alamosa, Colorado, Casandra and Kyle Vislosky of Presque Isle,  Jud Drake and Chenanne Balance of Wheatland, WY, Jamie Lee and Jennifer Jackson of Denver, CO, Allen-Michael Bennett of Rincon, GA, Monica Alley of Kansas City, MO, and Garrick Alley and (Partner) Laurie Theriault of Ashland, several great-grandchildren, Summer and Kaydence Parker, Jennifer and Lilly Jackson, Shawn, Thomas and Kylie Griffeth, Joseph and Ryan Vislosky, Tesla Alley, one great-great-grandchild Aser Barrett Moses, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marlene Griffeth of Caribou, Edwin and Judy Hodges of Hamilton, Ontario, Edgar and Janice Hodges of Brandford, Ontario, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Wayne will also be sadly missed by Bonnie Bell, Joan Bowmuster, Shelly and Jay Thompson and their daughter Mallory Willey. Wayne was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Timothy and Crystal (Watson) Hodges, a son, Rex Griffeth, three daughters, Roxann Griffeth Alley, Barbara Griffeth Johnson, and Debra Griffeth Hall, a grandson, Ryan Griffeth, a son-in-law Eric Alley, two brothers, Robert “Pete” Griffeth and Melvin Griffeth, a sister Brenda Tyson, three brothers-in-law, Ellery and Scott Hodges, Jerry Tyson, and a sister-in-law, Colleen Hodges. 

Memorial services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Limestone United Methodist Church with Pastor Chong Wook Choi officiating. Interment will follow in the Webster Cemetery, Ward Road, Limestone. A time of continued fellowship and refreshments will be held at the church following the interment.
