Wade S. Monti, 75, died January 26, 2026 at Caribou following a period of declining health. He was born in Caribou, May 30, 1950 the son of the late Thomas Monti and Francis (Corriveau) Langley. Wade was a 1968 graduate of Caribou High School, and following graduation enlisted with the U.S. Army at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He served with the 101st Airborne Division during Vietnam, 1970-1971, earning numerous commendations and medals.
Wade lived a life rooted in nature, family, and quiet moments that turned into lasting memories. He had a deep love for fly fishing and was truly an expert. He found peace at his tying bench, carefully crafting his own flies-none more famous than the Wacky Wade, his favorite and a reliable winner when it came to landing the big fish.
In his younger years, when adventure called, Wade could be found in just about any kind of boat, trolling across lakes throughout Northern Maine. The water was his happy place. He especially treasured camping trips with his buddies in the Allagash, adventures that, over time, evolved into cherished family traditions filled with laughter, stories, and shared love of the outdoors.
Wade made it a priority to teach his girls to appreciate nature, passing down not just skills, but respect for the land and the peace it can bring. As life moved forward, he and his wife continued those traditions with their grandchildren-eventually trading tents for camps, but never losing the joy of being together in the woods.
He also had a remarkable green thumb, always transforming his yards into welcoming spaces with beautiful gardens, stone-lined walkways, and thoughtful hardscapes that reflected the same care and patience he brought to everything he did.
Over the years, Wade built many valued friendships, but none meant more to him than the bond he shared with his wife and grandchildren, who were the true joy of his life.
Wade will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Though he is no longer with us, he lives on in our memories, in every cast of a fishing line, every quiet moment by the water, and every story shared around a campfire. His legacy of love, family, and the outdoors will continue for generations.
Surviving in addition to his wife Debra (Landeen) Monti of Woodland, are two daughters, Kristel Monti Van Horne and husband Jeff and her children, Sydney, Madison, and Hunter Drew of Sabattus, Kally Monti and her son Aiden of Topsham, one sister Darlene LaFleur and family of Newton, AL, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael and Diane Landeen, Roxanne and Paul Edgecomb, Claudette Landeen, Gregory and Kelly Landeen, many half brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
