Travis L. Michaud

February 8, 1976 — December 26, 2016

CARIBOU - Travis Leighton Michaud, 40, died December 26, 2016 after a short illness. He was born in Presque Isle, February 8, 1976 the son of Freddie and Paula (Barclay) Sirois, Jr. Following the tragic loss of his father in 1981, Paula met and married Steven Michaud in 1986, and he became Travis’ second-Dad. He attended Caribou schools and graduated from Caribou High School in 1994, where he was the student manager of the sports teams. He attended Northern Maine Community College for computer sciences.

Travis was an avid outdoorsman who loved four-wheeling, snowmobiling, fishing, and hunting. Over the years his favorite pass time was babysitting his nieces and nephews and sharing his love of the outdoors with them. You could always find Travis smiling, doing errands for the special ladies in the assisted living center where he lived, and enjoying time with family and friends. He was happiest with a child on his lap wheeling them around in his wheelchair making them laugh.

If you’ve known Travis, you know of his ability to accept you wherever you may be in your journey of life, his love of his family and friends, his willingness to help wherever he could or his drive for independence. No matter who you were; you were his friend.

Travis is survived by his mother, Paula Michaud of Caribou, his sisters, Trisha Stubbs of Presque Isle and Katie Michaud of Caribou, his nephews Hunter and Grant Stubbs and nieces Reagen Stubbs and Arizona Scott. He is also survived by his best friend, Justin Bell, who was more like a brother, and his family who he loved to take vacations with, and his friend Russell Stubbs; plus several uncles, aunts and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Freddie, his second father, Steven, and his grandparents, Fred and Glenna Sirois, Clarence and Sylvia Barclay, and Maynard and Pam Michaud.

Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8pm Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am, Saturday from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to a Go Fund Me page to help with the funeral expenses: https://www.gofundme.com/TravisMichaudFuneralFund. Due to his extensive health conditions, Travis was unable to get life insurance. Any contribution towards his funeral expenses would alleviate the burden on his family which he would never have wanted them to have to assume.

Thank you for your gift of friendship to Travis throughout his shortened life. God Bless You.
