Timothy M. Sandstrom

Timothy Michael Sandstrom, 60, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026 at his home in Stockholm where he resided with his mother Ann. He was born in Calais, February 13, 1966 the son of Michael and Ann (Bossie) Sandstrom. Tim grew up in Stockholm and was a 1984 graduate of Caribou High School. Following high school, Tim endeavored to make his way through life starting with a relocation to Alaska. As is the case with so many of us, it took leaving home to learn the place he really wanted to be was home in Stockholm. The next many years were a path of finding his way, as an ironworker and finding his permanent path back to Maine. It took many jobs and many turns but he made his way back to Maine later in life, where he truly wanted to be. Looking after the people and place he loved, much like his Dad but he did it with his own twist. Tim dedicated the last 15 years of his life to Stockholm, in particular, he spent those years making sure Ann was well and looked after; sometimes to her chagrin. As a family we knew how valuable that was. It gave us comfort we all shared and we appreciated him and all he did for Mom.

Tim’s heart was as big as his voice, and if you ever spoke to Tim, you knew it was hard to miss. He appeared to have a hard shell and a stubborn nature, which were both true, but he was gentle and loving underneath all the gruffness. Those who truly knew Tim know this to be the case. Whether he was calling to see how you were, or suggesting a visit to someone he thought lonely, or calling one of his sisters to make sure they and their Mom were “really okay”. Tim loved the outdoors and was a member of the Nordic Lakers Snowmobile Club and was a proud lifetime member of the Knockout Hunting Camp.

Tim is survived by his son, Caleb Albert-Ritts, who was very loved by his father Tim, beyond what words or distance could express. Tim is also survived by his mother, Ann Sandstrom, sisters, Tamara Cote both of Stockholm, Jennifer (Tim) Sandstrom of Fayetteville, GA, and Jessica (Mike) Richardson of Turner, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Uncle Tim carries them in his heart, for in his heart the most important thing was family.

Tim was predeceased by his father Michael, a brother-in-law, Jeffrey Cote, and many close friends who were all too young to pass. Tim, you are loved and will be so missed, the room got quiet and it’s noticed. Dear brother, son, and father, we wish you pain free peace and hope Grandpa (Gunner), Dad, Frank, Bruce, and all your people are with you now and forever. We love you Tim and know you will keep watch over us.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 7, 2026 at 11AM, from the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Stockholm. Interment will follow in the St. Theresa’s Catholic Cemetery. Following the service the family invites you to join them at the Sandstrom Homestead for a gathering to acknowledge Tim’s life.
