Roberta “Lynn” Smith, age 66, of Madison, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her home at HayHo Meadows in Madison, GA on April 24, 2026. Born July 15, 1959, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Lynn lived a life marked by deep faith, enduring love, and genuine connection with others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregory and Roberta Cousins, and her brother, Mark Cousins. She is survived by her beloved husband, Lawrence W. “Larry” Smith, whom she married on December 9, 2006, and with whom she shared a life of adventure and partnership.

Lynn was a devoted mother to Shana Johnson, Lindsay Desautels (Jason), Kiel Johnson (Romina), Erin Nessmith (Tyler), and Sarah Clouse (Landon), and a proud Nana to Bryce and Baylee Desautels; Brantley and Aubrey Nessmith; and Jasper (Nina), Brielle, Ezra, Oliver, and Gwenyth Clouse. She is also survived by her siblings, Dale Cousins (Cathy) and Karen Turchyn, along with many nephews she loved as her own.

For more than 20 years, Lynn worked alongside Larry in nuclear medicine. She was also deeply involved in her church, where she especially loved serving during Vacation Bible School volunteering, cooking, and encouraging children in a way that made each one feel known and valued.

Lynn will be remembered for her radiant smile, unmistakable laugh, and the way she made people feel seen and loved. Her greatest joy was time with family. Around the table, by the campfire making s’mores or fruit popovers, playing games, putting together puzzles, or simply being together. She was the heart of her family.

She and Larry shared a love for travel, RVing, camping, and fishing, whether from a kayak or standing in a river. Together, they explored new places, enjoyed unique cuisines, and embraced life fully. Lynn often said she was “solar-powered,” finding joy in sunshine and warmth wherever she went. She especially enjoyed strolling on any beach collecting seaglass.

Raised in Canada, Lynn grew up playing basketball and swimming. Both interests she later shared with her grandchildren, from swim lessons to driveway games. She was also incredibly creative, handmaking treasured items for her family, including custom Christmas stockings, crocheted blankets, and clothing. Sleepovers at Nana’s were filled with homemade cinnamon bread, classic movies, and prayers spoken over each child morning and night.

After a courageous 10-year battle with cancer, Lynn remained steadfast in her faith, never allowing hardship to define her. She lived each day with strength, resilience, and trust in the Lord, drawing inspiration from her favorite song, “Overcomer” by Mandisa.

Lynn’s life was a testament to faith and family. She made the most of her days, always placing God and her loved ones first. Her legacy is one of strength, humility, and unwavering love and a beautiful reflection of the woman she was. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as the very best of us all.

Funeral services will be held at Covenant Park Church in Madison, Georgia, on Saturday, May 9, 2026. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 2:30 PM, followed by the funeral service at 4:00 PM.

Lynn will be interred on Wednesday, July 29, at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou, Maine.
