Richard "Dickie" G. Smith Jr., 73, died December 13, 2025, at his Arizona home in Casa Grande, Arizona, from lung cancer. He was born in Caribou, Maine, on January 15, 1952, the son of Richard G. Smith (Red) and Eleanor (Clowes) Smith of Hardison Rd., Caribou, Maine.
Dickie worked as a self-employed potato farmer in his younger years. Maine Packers and Guerrette Sales in his later years. Dickie was a member of Caribou Masonic Lodge #170 A.F.&A.M. He served as the Worshipful Master in 1981. He also affiliated with the Masonic Lodge #30 F. & A.M in Casa Grande, Arizona. One of Dickie's proudest moments in life was his two sons joining Caribou Masonic Lodge #170 A.F. & A.M with each becoming Worshipful Masters, continuing a family tradition. Dickie will be remembered for his side-ways hats, excellent cooking, colorful life experiences stories and fun road/cruise trips. He enjoyed fun times with family and friends at Little Madawaska Lake camp and new adventures/friends in our Casa Grande, Arizona, home at Rodeo Estates.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Debbie (Ellis) Smith; his sons, Jody and Whitney (Katie) Smith of Caribou; grandchildren, Michael, MacKenna and Matthew Smith; his sister, Donella (John) Nazzaro; a special cousin, HD Smith(Winsome); stepdaughters, Laurie and Jennifer Woodman; and step grandchildren, Tifini and Tanner Lee. Dickie was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Wayne Rideout (Judy).
A Memorial service with Masonic Memorial services will be held in the spring at a date and time to be announced. Interment will be held summer 2026 at Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou, Maine. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send donations in Dickie's name to Caribou Masonic Lodge #170, 43 Hatch St., Suite 2, Caribou, ME 04736 for their "Bikes for Books" or Lodge Kitchen Projects. Remember Dickie's famous goodbye saying, "Tell all your friends about me" and smile!
