Richard London

September 30, 1943 — November 6, 2017

Caribou - Richard W. London, 74, passed on to his Heavenly home on November 6, 2017. Richard was born on Sept. 30, 1943, in Houlton, ME., the son of Horace and Marion (Cronkhite) London. In a family of five children, Richard grew up on the “London Farm” in East Hodgdon, where he worked in the dairy barn and picked lots of potatoes for his father. Richard lived and worked in Presque Isle for many years, where he worked at the Aroostook Shoe Factory, Indian Head Plywood and at various restaurants in later years. He also worked at Cary Medical Center in Caribou, where he met the love of his life, Deborah Chapman. At the young age of 42 he married Debbie, and they had 32 happy years together in Caribou. Richard liked to walk every day, no matter the weather. He enjoyed stopping by many of his favorite stores, especially to visit Dot, at “2nd Hand Rose.” Richie loved all things “moose.” He loved antiques and he loved to decorate for Christmas. He was predeceased by his parents and his older sister, Marie Williams Winfield. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Debbie London, his mother-in-law, Avis Chapman and her son, Tommy Chapman, his brother, Lawrence London and wife, Myrna and his sisters, Sharon London and Lynda Quint and husband Royce, as well as many nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank all those who cared for Richard during his final days at The Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center. Also, a special thanks to our “angel,” Shirley, and all of the church family at Calvary Baptist in Caribou for the love and support that has been shown to Deb, Richard, and his family. Friends may visit with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. from chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Josh Presley officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Evergreen Cemetery. Following the service there will be a gathering at the Calvary Baptist Church for refreshments and continued remembrance.
