Phyllis L. Pelletier

Caribou - Phyllis Lorraine Pelletier, 85 died November 12, 2022 at the Maine Veterans Home, Caribou with her family by her side. She was born in Prosser, Washington, September 9, 1937 the daughter of Edward and Marie (Heintz) Schmidt. She grew up with her six brothers and four sisters on the family farm in Roscoe, South Dakota, where she graduated from Roscoe High School in 1956. After graduation, her family moved back to Washington State where she met the love of her life, John Pelletier that same year. Together, they moved to Caribou where they married in 1958 and raised four sons and a daughter. Phyllis provided loving childcare to many area children while her own children were in school. Later, she obtained her drivers license and enjoyed working at McCarthy’s Sub Shop, currently known as Cindy’s Sub Shop, for thirty-one consecutive years.  Phyllis loved a full social calendar of church events and bingo evenings with friends. She cherished her trips to Washington State and South Dakota to visit family, knitting, sewing, and crochet projects were always in the works for giving away and for her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and preparing delicious meals with everyone gathered together. Phyllis was a faithful communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, serving as treasurer for 20 years. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, five brothers, Vincent, Charles, Norbert, Arnold, and David Schmidt, one sister, Anne Bourlier and one granddaughter, Renee Pelletier. She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, John, of Caribou, and their four sons, David Pelletier and companion Betty of Caribou, Brian Pelletier and wife Sharon of Westbrook, John Pelletier Jr. and companion Jenny of Caribou, and Robert Pelletier and wife Teri of Arundel, a daughter Diane Caron and husband Joseph of Brewer, one brother, John Schmidt and wife Mary, three sisters, Dorothy Schloer, Bonita Keller, and Mary Piefer all of Washington State, 12 grandchildren, Cassandra, Heather, Brandi, Amber, Zachary, Kristopher, Joshua, Jacob, Katie, and Nicholas Pelletier, Joseph and Ali Caron, ten great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 6PM until 8PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11AM Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will take place at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery. Following the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments in the church hall. Our family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to Mercy Home in Eagle Lake and more recently Maine Veterans Home in Caribou for the compassionate care our dear Wife and Mother received.
