In New Sweden, Nikki Leigh Nelson, age 51, passed away suddenly on August 27, 2023. Born in Caribou on February 8, 1972, she was the cherished daughter of Melvin and Loretta (Chase) Nelson.
Nikki was known for her adventurous spirit, and exploring the great outdoors. She was fun-loving, spunky, with a touch of sarcasm and loved by all. A graduate of Caribou High School, Nikki furthered her education by pursuing a business degree at Northern Maine Technical College. Professionally, she excelled as a property manager and bookkeeper. Beyond her career, she played active roles in the Stockholm American Legion Auxiliary and the New Sweden Cemetery Association.
She is remembered by her mother, Loretta; longtime partner, Rob Morrissette; his daughter, Sasha Morrissette; and Sasha's children: Christian, Gabby, Juliette, and Giselle. Nikki's memory also survives through aunts and uncles: Lorraine and Darrell Gallagher, Lloyd and Pam Chase, Warren and Jane Nelson, and Diana Lewis, as well as many cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Melvin, and brother, Neil.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 1 PM at the New Sweden Cemetery.
