Caribou-Our beloved, Mona Pearl Belanger, 90, passed away peacefully January 25, 2017 at a Caribou health care facility. She was born in Caribou April 8, 1926 the daughter of the late Dow and Fannie (Wright) Chapman. Mona married the love of her life, Patrick Belanger and he predeceased her May 31, 2003. She was a member of the Sacred Herat Catholic Church and was also a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. Mona will be long remembered as the “Best cook in town”. She would make beans, homemade bread and potato salad every Saturday night and feed the whole neighborhood as well as the local fire department. She was a giver and always loved to please others with her goodies, and later on in life with her crafts that she would share with everyone, especially the staff and residents of the Caribou Nursing Home. Mona won the hearts of many these past few years of her life. She loved visiting, playing bingo, doing crafts and entertaining with the “bling”. She is survived by her two sons and daughters in law’ Wayne and Mary Lee Belanger and Gregory and Sheila Belanger, all of Caribou. Two sisters, Athora “Torrie” Donaldson of W. Hartford, CT., and Mavis Byram of Orono. One brother, Murray Chapman of St. Albans. Four grandchildren Scott Belanger of Caribou, Shellie Belanger of Portsmouth, N.H., Garrett Belanger of Caribou and Christopher Belanger of Rockport, TX. Six great grandchildren; Skylar, Peighton, Cameron, Carter, Brandon and Taylor. A great great grandchild, Morgan. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews who were so very fond of her and thought of Mona as their “second mother”. Mrs. Belanger was predeceased by her brothers; Donald, Grayden, Gerald, Maynard and Richard “Popeye” Chapman and her sisters, Captola “Tollie” Myshrall, Patricia “Tishie” Beichner, Phyliss Morrell and Willa McLaughlin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Saturday February 4, 2017 from the Parish of the Precious Blood, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
