Mitchell Thompson, beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away on May 19, 2026, at the age of 32. He was born on August 5, 1993, and grew up in Connor, Maine, the son of Earnest Thompson and Cher Simon.

Mitchell’s life was not without its battles. He lived with mental disabilities and struggled with the long, painful grip of drug addiction. These were not failings of character. They were real struggles, the kind that wear on a person every single day. Mental illness is real. Addiction is real. The pain that comes with them is real, and so is the strength it takes to keep getting back up and trying again. Mitchell tried. He fought. He should be remembered for that fight, not in spite of it. To leave those struggles out would be to leave out the courage it took to carry them and the love that carried him through.

Through all of it, Mitchell remained tenderhearted, generous, and quick to give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He never let his hardest days steal the warmth out of him. He was, simply put, a good person, and that goodness touched everyone who crossed his path.

He was a dreamer, full of hopes and aspirations, and he chased the things he loved with his whole heart. Motocross was one of his great passions. He loved the roar of a small engine, the satisfaction of working with his hands, and the feeling of taking something apart and bringing it back to life. If it had an engine, Mitchell wanted to understand it. He was happiest outdoors, where the sky was wide open and the day was his own.

More than anything, Mitchell loved the people around him. His family, his friends, and his community filled his life with meaning, and he gave that love back tenfold. The world was a warmer place with him in it.

Mitchell is survived by his father, Earnest Thompson; his mother, Cher Simon; his children; his brother, Kyle M. Spooner of Houlton, Maine; and his sisters, Hunter C. Martin of Winslow, Maine, and Grace Thompson of Caribou, Maine. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

A private family service will be held to celebrate his life.

Ride easy, Mitchell. You are loved beyond measure, and you will be missed every single day.
