Mildred Blanchette

CARIBOU – Mildred Blanchette died August 13, 2020 at Presque Isle, at the age of 96. Millie was born on April 23, 1924 in Stockholm, the daughter of Anna (Saucier) and Willie Plourde. She attended schools in Stockholm and Caribou, and was a graduate of Caribou High School. She worked at: an ammunition factory during WWII, Fraser’s Sporting Camp at Square Lake, Holy Rosary Rectory in Caribou, and for many years as a C.N.A. at Cary Medical Center until her retirement. She was married to Ludger Blanchette with whom she had five children. Millie was a person of strong faith who led by example. She was selfless, hardworking, and spoke only well of others. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially loved watching her grandchildren grow up. She had many hobbies and interests and found it difficult to sit still for very long. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, read, and solve crossword puzzles. She enjoyed living off the land, gardening and picking berries, and she was an excellent cook. She was predeceased by her husband, Ludger, five brothers, Leo, Wilfred, Leonel, William, and Rosaire, and five sisters, Amanda, Rose, Isabel, Laura and Mary Jane. Millie is survived by her children, Candice and James Baker, of Lusby, MD, Timothy and Colleen Blanchette of Orrington, Jane and Paul Bouchard of Old Town, Mark Blanchette of Bangor, and Jody Blanchette of Caribou. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Laurel, Leah, Rachel, Denise, Ben, Erin, Luke, Hillary, Matthew, Nathan, and John, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Monday, August 17, 2020, at 11am. Interment will follow in the Old Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
