Matthew J. Roix

Matthew J. Roix, 47, passed away July 14, 2026, at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center In Portland. He was born in Presque Isle on November 23, 1978, the son of the late Patrick Roix and the late Patricia (Damboise) Roix. Matthew was a graduate of Caribou High School as well as the University of Maine at Presque Isle where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Outdoor Recreation.

He will be lovingly remembered for his positive attitude, clever sense of humor and happy go lucky personality but most of all for his sweet and gentle soul. He always had a smile and kind words for everyone. Matthew was an avid sports lover. The New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and the Las Vegas Aces were among his favorite teams, and he never missed watching a game. He attended Pine Tree Camp in Rome for many years and made several lasting friendships there.

He is survived by his identical twin brother, Marc Roix, his sister Michelle Newbegin and husband Torrey all of Augusta. Several cousins, aunts, uncles and friends as well as his beloved canine buddy, Archie. In addition to his parents, Matthew was predeceased by his brother, Stephen.

A private committal will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in North Caribou.
