Matthew Peter Milliard

Matthew Peter Milliard, 29, died unexpectedly December 5, 2025, in Caribou, leaving behind a legacy of courage, love, and redemption. Matt's life was not defined by his struggles but by the strength and heart he showed in overcoming them. He believed deeply that people are not the sum of their mistakes, and he proved that every single day through his actions, his work, and his love for others.

For the past several years, Matt had reclaimed his life - working hard, loving deeply, and building a future with the woman who captured his heart. Together, they dreamed of marriage, family, and a future built on love, forgiveness, and hope. Matt was known for his big heart, his humor, and his unwavering loyalty to those he loved. His passing leaves an unfillable void in the lives of his family, his partner, and all who knew him.

He was born in Presque Isle, February 23, 1996, the son of Peter and Lisa (LaPointe) Milliard. Matthew attended Woodland Consolidated School and was a class of 2014 graduate of Caribou High School.

Throughout high school, Matt excelled as a three-sport varsity athlete, earning letters all four years in soccer, baseball, and basketball. His leadership and dedication shone both on and off the field, serving as captain of the varsity soccer and baseball teams his senior year. He earned numerous honors, including All-Aroostook selections in all three sports, MVP awards in soccer and baseball, and recognition as Co-Player of the Year in Class B Soccer. Matt's competitive spirit and teamwork made him a respected leader and a true joy to coach.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Matt was a dedicated student who consistently earned honor roll recognition and was named a PVC Scholar Athlete. He also excelled in DECA, winning first place at state competitions and qualifying for national events. Beyond his accomplishments, Matt was known for his kindness and generosity, volunteering with the Special Olympics and mentoring younger athletes. His leadership, compassion, and love for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

After graduation, he attended Husson College, where he continued to pursue his education and build lifelong friendships. He was a member of the 2014 North Atlantic Conference Champion soccer team. Matt enjoyed spending time outdoors, playing sports, and sharing laughter with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his partner and soulmate, Danae McKenna of Caribou; his brother, Hunter Milliard and fiancée, Rebecca Lundgren, and her son, Oliver; aunts and uncles, Anne Dipadua and her husband, Mark, of Xenia, Ohio; Mona Campbell of Caribou; Lynne Tenney and her husband, Christopher, of Easton; Susan Randolph and her husband, Patrick, of Caribou; Richard LaPointe of Winter Haven, FL; Ann Hull of Fort Fairfield; Suzanne Saunders and husband, Eugene, of Caribou; Frances LaPointe and wife, Cathy, of Ocala, FL; and Rosanne Cyr of Sinclair; as well as many special cousins. Matt was predeceased by his grandparents, Gerard and Beatrice Milliard, Romain and Jeannette LaPointe; his uncles, David LaPointe and Kenneth Cyr; and his cousin, Myles Campbell.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 6 PM until 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 10 AM at the Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 34 Vaughn Street, Caribou. A time of continued fellowship and refreshments will follow in the church hall.
