Martha Ann Hanson, 89, died May 18, 2025 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. She was born in Howland, June 12, 1935 the daughter of Jack and Viola (Theriault) Leavitt. She was raised by her beloved Grandmother and Grandfather, Maude and Thomas Kimball. She was a graduate of Howland High School and was employed at JC Penney for many years. She loved music, especially playing the piano and singing. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and working with her hands. She also taught school in Sebois, ME and studied to be an X-ray Technician at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Martha is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, Reginald P. Hanson, and their son, Allan Hanson, both of Caribou, a sister-in-law, Coleen Catrini of Trinity, FL, a niece, Nancy Deem of St. George, UT and her friend Vikki Donnelly who she thought of as a daughter. She is predeceased by her Aunt Pauline Sanborn and her Uncle Ted Leavitt.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 2PM at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. Interment will be at a later date in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Aroostook House of Comfort in memory of Martha.
