Mary Marie Conant

Mary Marie Conant, 90, died peacefully at her home in Caribou, on November 24, 2010. She was born at Caribou, September 29, 1920, the daughter of Anthony and Lyda (Smith) Wright. She was a life long resident of Caribou, having graduated from Caribou High School in 1938. She was married to Robert B. Conant for over fifty years. After working for many years, she retired to devote her time to her beautiful crafts. She furnished children from throughout New England and beyond with Christmas stockings, Raggedy Ann dolls, and baby blankets. Her Christmas ornaments were unique and very much in demand and she created many beautiful quilts. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who was happiest surrounded by family, especially the children in her life. Marie is survived by her four children, Sally Thibodeau and her husband Ronald of Caribou; Diane Peters and her husband Tom and Delores Kemper and her husband David all of Presque Isle and Robert Conant and his wife Linda of York, PA. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Beth Theriault and her husband Todd; Jana Clark, Roby Thibodeau, Jennifer Peters, Lisa Currie, Carmen Robillard, Tom Peters II, Alan Conant and his wife Tracy, Julie Rundle, Jamie Kemper and Michael Norbeck; and great grandchildren Morgan and Ben Theriault, Taylor and Hayden Clark, Emma and Sadie Robillard, Xane Peters, Sarah Rundle and Patrick Conant. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Barbara Dionne and Lois Webb both of Fort Fairfield and Maxine Coyne of Portland; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her husband Robert; a sister Agnes Somers and a grand daughter Debra Norbeck Dar. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou, 6-8pm, Friday. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Saturday, November 27, 2010 from the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home, with he Rev. John Kiehn, pastor, officiating.
