Mary Ellen Field, 75, died unexpectedly June 30, 2026 at her Caribou residence. She was born in Presque Isle, January 10, 1951 the daughter of the late Herbert and Laura (Brasslett) Knox.

Mary Ellen grew up in Kenduskeag, Maine and graduated from Central High School in Corinth. She attended Husson College, earning a bachelor's degree in business. She dedicated many years of service to Loring Air Force Base and after its closure, worked at Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Limestone as a Personnel Security Specialist from its opening in 1995 until her retirement. Throughout her career, she was respected for her professionalism, dedication, and commitment to public service.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Mary Ellen was a devoted member of the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou. Her faith was the foundation of her life and guided her in a lifetime of service to both her church and her community. She generously gave her time and talents, always placing the needs of others before her own.

She was an active member of the Daughters of Isabella, serving in both local and state leadership positions, and faithfully participated in the parish Music Ministry. She served as Director of Aroostook County ACTS (Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service), chaired both the Worship and Spirituality Committee and the Hospitality Committee, served on the Church Council and Pastoral Council, and was a dedicated past member of the HOPE Committee, assisting individuals and families in need throughout the community.

Beyond her church ministries, Mary Ellen enjoyed reading and had a special love for animals. She was also active in several community organizations over the years, including the American Legion Auxiliary, where she honored her brother's military service, and the Red Hat Society among others. Wherever she served, she was known for her compassion, kindness, and unwavering willingness to help others.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Sherri Dumont and her husband, Pierre, of Caribou; her siblings, Stanley J. Knox of Narragansett, Rhode Island, and Carolyn M. Seifert and her husband, George, of Kenduskeag, ME; and her beloved grandchildren, Camden and Colin Dumont, who were among the greatest joys of her life.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 34 Vaughn Street, Caribou. Interment will follow at the New Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. A time of continued fellowship and refreshments will be held following the services at the Parish Hall.

Mary Ellen will be remembered for her steadfast faith, gentle spirit, generous heart, and the countless lives she touched through her service, kindness, and love. Her legacy of compassion and devotion will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
