Mable Quist

November 19, 1930 — February 29, 2024

Mable Quist, 93, passed away February 29, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born in Caribou, November 19, 1930 the daughter of the late Lee Doody Sr. and Myrtle (Rideout) Doody. Mable was employed at Maine Bag Co. in Caribou.  She and Floyd were married for 51 years, spending most of that time living on the Quist homestead in New Sweden, where they hosted several Quist and Doody family reunions.  They enjoyed traveling to visit family in New Mexico, Kentucky, Massachusetts and Canada and spent many days four-wheeling around The County in the company of many friends.  Mable and Floyd attended the Woodland Baptist Church and she treasured the many well wishes and prayers she received from her church friends.

Mable is survived by her son, Leroy and Dora Doody of New Mexico; daughter-in-law, Vaida Doody of Fort Fairfield; sister, Joyce and Bob Miller of Kentucky; grandchildren, Adam(Carmen)Doody, Leroy Doody, Jr. of New Mexico, and Misty (Donald) Smith of Perth, New Brunswick; great grandchildren Steven Linville, Summer Doody, and Vanessa (JT) Doran of New Mexico, Leah Doody of New Mexico, Caleb Smith of St. John, New Brunswick, and Kaitlin (Alex) Mcphail of Andover, New Brunswick; great great grandchildren Greyson Doran and Darrell Mcphail; and brother-in-law Gerald (Rita) Quist of Massachusetts.  She was predeceased by a son, Darrell, her husband, Floyd Quist, her parents, Lee and Myrtle Doody, and siblings, Donald, Vinal, Evelyn, Lee, Delmar, and Malcolm. 

Mable wanted to express appreciation to Dr. Swanberg, Dr. Djuanda and the nurses at Cary Medical Center and special love to nieces Debbie Sirois and Erica Skerry along with her helpful and generous neighbor, Gerald Sullivan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 11AM at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. Interment will be in the Stockholm Cemetery. Donations may be made in Mable’s name to the Jefferson Cary Foundation, PO Box 89, Caribou, Maine 04736.
