Michael J. Ouellette

April 8, 1956 — February 4, 2024

Woodland - Michael J. Ouellette, 67, died unexpectedly due to complications of cancer February 4, 2024 at his Woodland residence. He was born in Caribou, April 8, 1956 the son of the late Lewis and Sylvia (Gahagan) Ouellette. Mike attended Caribou Schools, and married Kathy Paul in 1974. He owned and operated M.J. Ouellette and Daughters Construction Inc. for over 45 years. He attended the Holy Rosary Catholic Church as well as the First Baptist Church of Woodland. Mike was an avid snowmobiler and in 2000 he and 2 friends completed a 5,977 mile snowmobile journey from Tok, Alaska to Caribou, Maine. He also invented and patented Retrax, a retractable wheel-ski system for snowmobiles. Mike was also very active in the Caribou High School Technology Center and Northern Maine Community College serving on their advisory boards. Surviving in addition to his wife of over 50 years, Kathy of Woodland, are two daughters, Neali Moir and husband Scott of Woodland, and Haley Timpane and husband Erik of Lakeville, MN, one brother, Peter Ouellette and wife Terri of Caribou, six sisters, Kathy Dodd and husband Randy, of Woodland, Peggy Winquest and husband Bobby, Connie Lloyd and husband John all of South Carolina, Ann Chapman and husband Kevin of Woodland, Lori DeToma and husband Alan of South Carolina, and Lisa Berkoski and husband Art of Caribou, four deeply loved grandchildren, Carter Moir, Brooke Moir, Ava Timpane, and M.J. Timpane, Many nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by a great niece Marissa Lloyd. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 10AM on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center with Rev. Ron Rosser officiating. Following the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments in the multipurpose room.  Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mike are asked to consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, C/O Ahah Temple, 1404 Broadway, Bangor, ME 04401.
