Lois Wing

August 21, 1947 — May 19, 2025

North Chili, NY and Caribou

Lois Brown Wing, 77, died unexpectedly in North Chili, NY. She was born August 21, 1947 in Greenport, Long Island, NY, the daughter of the late Wayland and Lillian (Bergen) Brown of East Marion, Long Island, NY. Lois graduated from Greenport High School in 1965 and was a graduate of Husson College, where she met Richard E. Wing, the love of her life. Lois and Dick were married on June 24, 1967. Lois created meaningful connections with family and friends. She was passionate about staying in touch with those she loved. Writing letters became a lifelong ministry for her. A cancer survivor of 29 years, she fervently wrote letters to anyone she learned was receiving medical treatment, sharing words of encouragement seasoned with wonderful humorous comments. She thrived in caregiving roles. As a home daycare provider, children seamlessly became part of the family. She served for many years as a CNA with the Visiting Nurses of Aroostook. Her clients felt much more like extended family to Lois. She shared her faith and joy for life by leading Pioneer Girl groups at the church. Lois genuinely enjoyed learning about the lives, traditions, and life stories of people she encountered. Lois had a very special connection to music and was a talented vocalist. In college, she entered and won a talent contest. She shared her love of music through the gift of lullabies and playing sing-song games with her children and grandchildren. She performed in countless choir productions with her church. Music was a source of comfort and connection for Lois. Lois was predeceased by her husband, Dick. We miss her already, but smile knowing they are reunited again in heaven. Lois is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Stephanie Wing of Mapleton; her three daughters and sons-in-law, Irene and Andy Wilcox of Scottsville, N.Y., Deborah and Gregory Smith of Westbrook, and Adriana and Dale McCarty of Fort Fairfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Wade Utter of Fairport, NY; ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service which will be held Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11am at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou.
