Caribou--Allyn Lee Lister, 68, died September 1, 2021, at Caribou. He was born in Caribou, Maine, on April 1, 1953, the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth “Betty” (Violette) Lister. Allyn was a graduate of the Caribou High School class of 1972. Early in his career, he was self-employed in a family logging business for several years. More recently, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator at Tri-Community Landfill until his retirement in December 2016. He married Cheryl McAfee on August 10, 1974. Allyn loved spending time with his family and was incredibly proud of them. He loved the outdoors, traveling and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Allyn was a vibrant storyteller and loved sharing his experiences with everyone he met. He was also full of advice and was a good listener who always had time to share his wisdom. He held respect for everyone, no matter their background and continued to uphold and instill his own values, teaching them to his family, especially to his grandchildren. Allyn is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cheryl, three children; Wendy Ward and husband Matthew of North Platte, Nebraska; Jason Lister and wife Christine of Caribou; and Angela Poitras and husband Jonathan of Limestone. His beloved grandchildren; Meghan, Emily, Jenna, Cage, Max, Seth, Jack, Ian, Reece, Hallie, Theo, Carsen, and Kaleb. Three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Rick (Patty) Lister and Terry (Rhonda) Lister, all of Caribou, and Evans Lister of Vassalboro. Two sisters and brothers-in-law: Sherrie (Jim) Guerrette of Vassalboro and Lori (Evert) Fowle of Vero Beach, Florida. Many nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2021.
