Linda Pearl Marie (Roy) Mcglinn

December 14, 1956 — November 16, 2019

Hamlin and Stockholm – Linda Pearl Marie (Roy) McGlinn was born December 14, 1956.  She succumbed to her tremendously courageous battle with cancer at the age of sixty-two on November 16, 2019 surrounded by her adoring family.  She was predeceased by her husband James after 25 years of marriage in 2004, her mother Germaine Rose (Levasseur) Roy in 2001, her sister Yvette (Roy) Dube in 2001, her father Elie Paul Roy in 2002, and her sister Grace Roy in 2017.

Linda attended Van Buren District High, Mansfield Cosmetology Academy, University of Maine Presque Isle, University of Maine Machias and the University of Maine Fort Kent.  She was raised in Van Buren and married James McGlinn in September 1978.  She loved traveling and stood by her husband moving multiple times for his career and finally returned to Hamlin in 1995 with her husband and two daughters.

She had many roles as a person, mother and wife through the years.  She ran a preschool, worked as a town administrator, a cosmetologist, a real estate agent, a federal assessment administrator, assistant cook in a nursing home kitchen, personal services assistant and managed a site location for Meals on Wheels.  She was part of many volunteer organizations such as the Van Buren Lions Club, Daughters of Isabella, Van Buren Columbiettes, Northern Aroostook Alternatives, Inc., American Legion Auxiliary Post 49 and a dedicated member of the executive board of the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery Committee.  Everything she did in her life, she put her whole heart into.  She enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening, cooking for the family, crafting, and enjoying the outdoors at her husband’s side.  She did everything she could and more to support her children throughout their lives.  She was always there to lend a hand to a friend in need and truly believed in family values.  Her grandchildren meant the world to her and they loved to spend time with her and learn new things from her.  She was the type of person who never met a stranger and her door was always open to anyone who wanted or needed to talk.

She enjoyed sharing her adventures with others.  She shared her many experiences and life stories with others and made many new friends along the way.  She loved to make people laugh and her wish is to be remembered with thoughts of laughter and her love of life.  Remember the happy times she shared with you and know that she will see you again someday.  “Cherish yesterday, Dream Tomorrow, Live well”.

She is survived by her daughter Amanda (McGlinn) Spaulding and her husband Benjamin of Brunswick, her daughter Joanna (McGlinn) Gervais and her husband Joseph of Stockholm, five grandchildren, Grant, Vivian, Sage, Quinn and Jameson, her special brother Ken and his wife Billie of Washburn, her special nephew John and his wife Dana of Deep River, Connecticut,  her special friend Jim, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and special friends she met on her journey,

Her family would like to thank everyone and is grateful for their support over the years.  Special thanks to the Aroostook House of Comfort and their wonderful staff in Presque Isle, who were there for her and her family during this time of need.
