In Loving Memory of Leah M. Parks McDougal

Leah who always said laughter is the best medicine, passed away (no pun intended) May 31, 2026 at Bangor at the age of 76.

She was known for her quick wit and uncanny ability to turn even the most ordinary moment into a comedy show. She brought joy and laughter to everyone lucky enough to know her.

She was born on February 17, 1950 in Caribou, the daughter of Halson and Phyllis (Ireland) Parks.

She spent a lifetime telling stories and creating laughter whether it was a family gathering, a grocery store checkout line, a hospital room, or even a funeral home, she could always be counted on to lighten the mood.

She is survived by her devoted husband, George, her most adored son, Kirk Armstrong and wife Julie, and their six children, Emma, Sadie, Jack, Henry, Penelope, and Charlie, who were the sparkle in her eyes. Also, George’s children, daughter Sarah, son Michael, and their families. She also leaves behind four siblings, Gail Anderson (Bob), Philip Parks (Florence), Carol Olson (Peter), and Rhonda Rose. Along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Louise McDougal, sister-in-law, Patty Adams (Kevin), sister-in-law, Sharon McDougal, brother-in-law, Gerald McDougal, and their families.

We will all cherish the sound of her laughter forever and if there is one thing that Leah would want, it would be for us to keep laughing loudly and often. In keeping with Leah’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.
