Lawrence (Larry) Albert

Caribou-Lawrence “Larry”Anthony Albert ,82 passed away on April 13, 2017 after declining health in recent years at Van Buren. He was the seventh of 18 children born May 25, 1932 to Eugene and Eva (Cowette) Albert of Caribou and was raised on the family farm in North Caribou. Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Germany with reconstruction activities following the end of WWII. Larry owned and operated the GJ Construction Company in CT where he did steel erection of high rise buildings in CT and NY. In 1967, Larry relocated back to Caribou and opened Albert’s Otter Brook Garage on the Van Buren Road with his brother Murray (Dave). Larry and Dave operated their body shop for 20 years and enjoyed providing the highest quality auto body work for their customers. He was a 1980 Graduate of the Caribou High School Adult Education Program, and a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Larry enjoyed spending time in his retirement with his family, friends, gardening, reading his Bible, listening to light jazz music and his dog Tippy. Larry is survived by his wife of 59 years Florence (Hanson) Albert, of Caribou, his son Darren Albert and wife Hon Laura Lopez Roche of San Juan PR , his daughter Darlene Albert and fiancé Raymond Rodriguez of Clinton, Maryland , three grandchildren Michelle Albert, Anthony Rivera and Alex Rivera, and two great grandchildren Noelani Rivera and Armand Rivera. He is also survived by his brothers Francis, William, Chester, and his sisters Julie Jacobs, Evangeline Roachfort, and Veronica Soucy. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Larry's best friend for many years, . Wilfred Martin, Jr. Friends may all at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 9a.m until time of services Saturday April 22, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00am from the Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
