Kenton J. Nadeau

Caribou- Kenton J, Nadeau 75 died August 4, 2011 at his Caribou residence with his family by his side following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Lewiston November 17, 1935 the son of the late Lawrence and Leona (Wardwell) Jackson. He was a 1953 graduate of Caribou High School and attended the University of Maine at Orono and later graduated from Ricker College. He served with the US Army from 1955-1957 and he married Carole Johnston October 26, 1957. Mr. Nadeau worked in sales for a number of years and also owned and operated Ken’s Grocery in Caribou. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mr. Nadeau served on the Caribou Board of Education from 1975-1992, was past president of the Caribou Bowling League and the Babe Ruth Baseball League. He was an active member of the Caribou Jaycees and served as State Vice President. He was honored by the Jaycees as a recipient of the Jaycee International Senatorship. Kenton was an avid fisherman and recently had fulfilled his lifelong dream of a fishing trip to Alaska with his son in law Scott and also recently enjoyed a trip to Pebble Beach California with his son Jeff to play golf. Surviving in addition to his wife of over 53 years, Carole of Caribou are three sons and two daughters in law Jeffrey and Christy Nadeau of San Diego, CA., Brian Nadeau of Sewaren, N.J and Bradley and Sara Nadeau of Cornwell, Vt. Two daughters and sons in law; Michele and Scott Gill of Brunswick and Andrea and Glenn Hays of Chandler, AZ. A brother Gard Nadeau of Alexandria, N.Y and a sister Harolyn Haines of Oakland City, IN. Four Grandchildren; Nicholas Austin, Danielle Nadeau, Ryan Nadeau and Emily Hays. Two great grandchildren Shawn and Elayna. A special Aunt, Captola Dahlgren. Several nieces and nephews. Mr. Nadeau was predeceased by a brother H. Bradley Nadeau. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 6-8 pm Sunday. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Monday August 8, 2011 from the Chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr. Nadeau may do so through the Caribou High School Scholarship Fund or the Caribou Children’s Discovery Museum.
