John David Pelletier, 94, died April 2, 2026 in Presque Isle with his family by his side. He was born January 24, 1932 in St. John to Paul and Angie (Wiles) Pelletier. He worked on the family farm and in 1954 moved to Connecticut and worked as a supervisor in a ball bearing plant. Shortly after the move, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1957. During his term in the service, he was stationed in Seattle, Washington where he met his wife, Phyllis Schmidt. They married in 1958 and moved back to the east coast settling in Caribou where they raised their family of four sons and one daughter.
John was employed as a construction worker at the Presque Isle Air Force Base. In 1959 he began working for the Caribou Water District and after 38 years he retired in 1997. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had great times going to camp with his buddies, Will Levasseur, Leo Martin and Dale Olmstead. They created memories playing cards, telling stories and eating well. Both he and Phyllis spent the winter snowmobiling for many years with family and friends. John enjoyed attending his son’s baseball, soccer and basketball games and family gatherings.
John is survived by his son David Pelletier of Caribou; a daughter Diane Caron and her husband Joseph of Brewer; a son Brian and his wife Sharon of Westbrook; a son John Pelletier, Jr. and his wife Jenny of Caribou; Robert Pelletier and his wife Teri of Arundel. Twelve grandchildren; Cassandra Pelletier, Heather Pelletier, Brandi Beaumont, Amber Ross, Zachary Pelletier, Kristopher Pelletier, Joshua Pelletier, Jacob Pelletier, Katie Guiou, Nicholas Pelletier, Joseph Caron, Ali Caron and twelve great-grandchildren. One brother, Morris Pelletier and two sisters, Irene Bishop and Cecile Fournier.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Phyllis (Schmidt) Pelletier, one granddaughter, Renee Marie Pelletier, nine bothers, and three sisters.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Cary Medical Center and the Aroostook House of Comfort for the compassionate care our Dad received.
