John D. Miller, 77, died March 2, 2026 at his Chapman residence. He was born in Caribou, February 16, 1949, the son of Maynard and Madeline (Wyman) Miller. He grew up on Sweden Street and was a member of the “Sweden Street Sluggers”. He graduated from Caribou High School in the class of 1967 before volunteering for the United States Army; serving 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. John worked for the United States Postal Service and had a firewood business before becoming owner operator of JDM Transport and Hauling driving flatbed up and down the east coast. He spent his retirement in West Chapman on his tractor or ranger with his dogs by his side. He enjoyed a good laugh, Fred Sanford and Jerry Clower quotes were never far away. John was a lifelong John Deere owner, and a Celtics, Red Sox and well-done steak fan. He flew the American and POW/MIA flags high. He dedicated his time to his family; he was his two granddaughters' biggest fan. He was always there cheering them on with a smile on his face. That big smile we are all going to miss.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maynard and Madeline, a brother Paul, and wife, Jasmine. John is survived by 2 sons, Jonathan Miller and wife Darcey, and Andrew Miller all of Chapman, two granddaughters, Denver and Aubrey, one brother Mark. Graveside services with military honors will be held at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
