John William Burba, 78, died August 10, 2025 at his Caribou residence surrounded by family following a hard-fought courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Norwich, CT, December 22, 1946 the son of the late William and Frances Mary (Knight) Burba, Jr. John served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam, earning several medals and achieving the rank of Sargeant. Following his military service, he worked at Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut as a machinist for 49 years. John enjoyed gardening, tending to his land and properties but most of all he loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He also enjoyed fishing and was looking forward to spending time at the lake house.
John is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Debra (Harmon) Burba, of Caribou, their children, John R. Burba and wife Melissa of Caribou, Melissa Brown of Arkansas, and Timothy Burba of Colorado, and by his 4 grandchildren. John was greeted in heaven by a daughter, Michelle Burba.
Committal services with military honors will be held at 12PM, Friday, September 5, 2025 at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, 37 Lombard Road, Caribou.
