Joan Thibodeau

October 31, 1938 — March 7, 2021

CARIBOU - Joan “Joanne” Thibodeau, 82, died after a brief illness March 7, 2021 at Cary Medical Center in Caribou. She was born in Eagle Lake on October 31, 1938 the daughter of the late Leonide and Cora (Gagnon) Sirois. She attended school in Eagle Lake and in Portland at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral High School. Mrs. Thibodeau was a devoted member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She married the late Clifton Thibodeau on May 7, 1962 and they spent 58 wonderful years together. Joan enjoyed a good card game and also loved yelling out “Bingo!” at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Caribou, where she was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a quiet, gentle soul, but she also wasn’t afraid to give you her opinion. Mrs. Thibodeau enjoyed planting flowers for their natural beauty, and planting her vegetable garden for its wonderful bounty each summer and fall. But what Joan truly loved the most was being a Memere to her two grandchildren, and she was so happy to experience life through their eyes.

Joan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Stacey & Michael Beganny of Amherst, MA. Her twin grandchildren, Colin & Ava Beganny (age 12.) Four sisters: Betty Cole of Charlton MA, Margaret Claffy of Deerfield NH, Nancy Pelletier of Eagle Lake, and Rose Cyr of Portland. Three brothers: Lionel Sirois of Apollo Beach FL, Gary Sirois of Manchester CT, and Jimmy Sirois of Otisfield. Many nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Mrs. Thibodeau is predeceased by her husband Clifton Thibodeau, 3 sisters: Diane Sirois, Patsy Beaudry, Arlene Kidney, and Esther Goulet, and 6 brothers: Gilman, Fernand, Normand, Richard, Armand, and Gerald Sirois.

We would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Cary Medical Center for the care and compassion they exhibited during Mrs. Thibodeau’s stay. Joan’s peaceful transition would not have been possible without each and every one of you.
