Joan Lisbeth Aldrich Theriault, 79, passed peacefully, May 21, 2026 surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was born in Caribou the daughter of Herbert N. and Irene L. (Bouchard) Aldrich on February 18, 1947. She attended parochial school through 8th grade and Caribou High school, graduating in 1965. She and her husband, Paul, were married on April 23, 1966, and in June 1969, their daughter, Denise, was born.

After a brief time in banking, Joan began her 40-year career as an insurance agent in 1970. In 1987, she and Paul built River's Bend Mobile Home Community which they owned and operated until selling in 2023.

Following in her father's footsteps, Joan was drawn to public service, serving on the Caribou City Council for 13 years from 2012-2025, and was very proud of her perfect attendance, having never missed a meeting.

Joan loved all kinds of games. She had at least three online word games going at any given time with her daughter and sisters, Saturday night card games with family and friends, dominoes with her daughter on Sundays, and her favorite, Tuesday poker with her daughter, her sister Diane, and her niece Erica.

Joan was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. With a level head and open mind, she was always considered a "voice of reason" and many sought her advice on a number of topics. She of course was always happy to help and her wisdom will be missed.

Joan was predeceased by a brother, Nelson, her father, Herbert and her mother, Irene, and brother-in-law, Eric Gove. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul of Caribou, her daughter Denise of Caribou, three sisters, Tisha Begin of Waterville and partner David Record of Clinton, Debra Aldrich of Homosassa, Florida, and Diane Gove of Caribou and her partner Jim Madore of Madawaska, as well as many special nieces and nephews.

Friends who wish to contribute in Joan's memory may do so through the Caribou Recreation Department, 55 Bennett Drive, or the Caribou Ecumenical Food Pantry, PO Box 1315, Caribou, Maine 04736.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. www.mocklerfuneralhome.com.
