Jeff Franklin, 84, died July 25, 2026 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. He was born in Petersburg, VA, February 22, 1942 the son of David and Rachel (Primak) Franklin. At an early age they moved to Brooklyn New York to be closer to family. Jeff loved “The City” and all it had to offer him. Quickly he grew fond of the music scene along with what all the boroughs had to offer this young man. He had vivid memories of watching Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa and Frank Sinatra at various Jazz clubs in Midtown. In order to continue his passion for the musical arts he attended broadcasting school and graduated from the RCA Institute in Manhattan. Upon graduation he landed an On-Air DJ job at WFST in Caribou Maine. Quickly he developed his broadcast communications skills that paved the way through the next five decades. His career extended from Maine to Bakersfield California where he worked for Buck Owens at KUZZ. During his time in radio his curiosity grew to other aspects of the business including writing and producing commercials, sales and later co-owning a radio station. He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Duska (Hemingway) Franklin, and their son Jordan “Jody” Franklin and his wife Melissa.
