James (Jim) F. Murphy, Jr., 81, died November 20, 2025 at The Aroostook House of Comfort following a period of declining health. He was born in the Bronx, NY, on January 8, 1944 the son of James F. Murphy, Sr. and Alice (O'Neill) Murphy. He was always very proud of his Irish heritage. Jim had an entrepreneurial spirit. He began his varied careers in construction, directing the layout of many roads and buildings. He was then known as The Handyman throughout Aroostook County before becoming the Broker/owner of Crown e-Realty. After retirement, he enjoyed being a substitute teacher at Caribou High School. He was a member of Caribou Lodge #170 A.F.&A.M., the Kiwanis Club of Caribou, the Presque Isle Fish and Game Club, and was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Caribou. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and socializing with friends.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Colleen (Cameron) Murphy. He always enjoyed telling folks how he met her on a blind date. He is also survived by a son, Justin C. Murphy of Caribou, and a special granddaughter, Piper Murphy-Darling of Thorndike. Jim was predeceased by his parents and by his two sisters, Pam Blake and Alice Langdon.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 12 pm until time of services, which will be held at 1pm at the funeral home chapel. Spring interment will be in the Green Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to contribute in memory of Jim may do so to the charity of your choice.
