CARIBOU - Jack Arnold Westin went home to be with his beloved Lord and Savior on August 6, 2017. He was born on December 8, 1932 in Presque Isle to Jason and Eva O’Donal. Eva died at Jack’s birth, and soon thereafter Jack was adopted by Everett and Clara Westin of Caribou, Maine. He graduated from Caribou High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 4 years and then went on to Southern Maine Vocational School in South Portland where he graduated two years later in 1958. After graduation and returning from the Coast Guard, he purchased the Mobil gas station on South Main Street in Caribou. In 1961 Jack went to work for the State of Maine, Department of Transportation as a mechanic and worked for the DOT until his retirement in 1991. Jack has been a lifelong member of the Caribou United Baptist Church. He has served on many committees and well as being a deacon of the church. “Mr. Fix It” as he was known, spent his retirement fixing and building things as well as spending time in his garden and flower beds and with his beloved wife, Honey. He is survived by his loving wife, Wilma Hall Westin of 63 years, a son Kenneth Westin and his wife Tracey, step-grandson Matthew Brown all of Caribou, and a daughter Pamela Westin of Bloomfield, New Jersey. He is also survived by members of his Westin family, Paul and Joan Westin of Albion, Mark Westin of Caribou, a brother Leland Brown of Bangor, a sister Jerry Hayden of Madison, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Norman and Joyce Hall of Arnold, Maryland, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive their family and friends on Saturday August 12, 2017 from 1 to 2pm at the United Baptist Church, 74 High Street in Caribou, followed by a service at 2pm with Pastor Troy Heald officiating. Interment will be private, at a later date in the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery.
