   "MOM OF 8"

Caribou - It is with great sadness we announce that Jeanette Anna (Stairs) Hanson, 87, slipped away quietly to be with her heavenly Father on May 09, 2022. Jeanette was born on April 12, 1935 in Washburn, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Olive (Bailey) Stairs. Jeanette along with her husband Paul Hanson, Sr. raised a family of eight children, six of whom survive her, Karla Hanson of Caribou, Peter (Karen) Hanson of South Portland, Brenda (Vaughn) Keaton of Caribou, Michael Hanson of Portland, Dana Hanson of Portland and Jennifer (Jerry) Beaupre of Caribou. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law Michelle (Albair) Hanson of Caribou, a very special family friend Paul St. Peter of Caribou, 11 grandchildren and their spouses, 9 great-grandchildren and spouse, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister Earlene (Stairs) Hopkins of Windham, sister-in-law Jeannette (Ouellette) Stairs of Caribou, and a brother-in-law Louis Hanson and his wife Sally of Fort Fairfield. Jeanette was blessed to have many nieces and nephews in her life. Mom had a love for family and it was evident to all who knew her.

Jeanette was predeceased by her loving husband Paul Sr. in 1993, sons Ralph in 2012 and Paul Jr. in 2020, along with a granddaughter Kristen Havens in 2009. She is also predeceased by five siblings and their spouses, Dorothy (Stairs) Adams and husband Philip, Walter "Buzzy" Stairs and wife Joan, Claude Stairs, Marilyn (Stairs) Thompson and husband Edgar and a brother-in-law David Hopkins. As well as Paul Sr.'s side of the family Chester and Susan (Rochford) Hanson, Raymond Hanson, Marie (Hanson)Johndro-Kinney, Phyllis (Hanson) Cyr and husband Clyde.

Jeanette's love for people lead her to a job at Sleeper's Grocery Store for many years. It was during this time that she ventured out and took a cake decorating class as a hobby. This hobby took off for Jeanette and became a successful forty plus year career as the "Cake Lady" - Cakes by Jeanette was established in the early 1970's. While running her cake business from her home she also kept very busy with outside activities as she was very involved with the V.F.W. Post #9389 Auxillary in Caribou. She enjoyed the many activities and conventions she was able to be part of. She especially liked her BINGO and all her friends she spent time with. You could often see her out and about in her little red car "MOM OF 8"!  As busy as she was with her activities - she also enjoyed sitting in her favorite chair to knit and crochet for her family.

Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 6-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday May 14, 2022 from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will follow in
