Caribou- Ivan B. Shaw 80 (MSGT USAF Ret.) died August 22, 2025 at Caribou following a period of declining health. He was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia Canada August 31,1944, the son of the late Ivan and Freida (Smith) Shaw. Ivan was a graduate Yarmouth High School, Community College of the Air Force, as well as Northern Maine Technical College. He married Penelope Krafve December 3, 1965. Mr. Shaw served in the US Air Force for over 26 years as an Imagery Production Technician. During his Air Force career, he was station in Arizona, England, Thailand, Germany, Virginia, Colorado, New Hampshire, and retired from Loring Air Force Base in 1990. He served during Vietnam and received numerous awards, commendations, and citations during his career. Following his retirement from the Air Force he was employed as an accounting technician by the Defense Finance and Accounting Service at Loring. Ivan was a faithful member of the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church and was also a member of Caribou Lodge #170 A.F. & A.M., Lister Knowlton post #9389 VFW and the local Ham Radio Club. Surviving in addition to his wife of nearly 60 years, Penny of Caribou, are his children Ivan Patrick Shaw and Tammy Wickstrom and Husband Larry all of Caribou, and Kelly Bouchard and husband Craig of St. David. One brother Rev. Paul Shaw and wife Terri of Alberta Canada, and brother-in-law Walter Cole. Ten Grandchildren and two Great-grandchildren whom Ivan truly adored. He was predeceased by two sisters Loma Cole and Helene Gorman and her husband Rev. Karl Gorman. Memorial services will be held at 1PM Wednesday August 27,2025 from the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Ben Daggett officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery following the service.
