Gwen Ferguson

June 22, 1930 — August 23, 2023

Caribou-Gwendolyn J. Ferguson, 93, passed away August 23, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Cary Medical Center, Caribou following a period of declining health. She was born June 22, 1930, in Washburn, Maine, the daughter of the late Ransford P. and Irene  (LaBreck) Stoddard. She was a graduate of Washburn High School, and married the love of her life, Ralph Ferguson, November 17, 1949. She was a member of Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Caribou and a member of the Lister Knowlton Post 9389  VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She also generously devoted her time as a volunteer at Cary Medical Center. Mom was an immaculate homemaker and hard worker all her life. She had a big heart and one of her best virtues was always putting others first. She took great pleasure in baking for family and friends and her date squares were always a favorite. She so enjoyed shopping with her daughters and was always ready for an adventure. In the face of life’s challenges, she was there to offer unconditional love, support, and kindness to her beloved family who will be forever thankful for the time shared. As an avid sports fan, she was proudly seen at her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s many sporting events. In her final month, her spirit remained resilient showing her remarkable sense of humor that could light up a room, retaining a sharp mind and wealth of memories. As humans when we accept birth, we concurrently accept death. We say hello knowing that one day we must say goodbye. As we navigate the days ahead, we find peace in knowing that heaven has gained another angel. Now, after a long and blessed life, she can rest her beautiful soul.
Surviving in addition to her husband of nearly 74 years, are her children Connie (Tom) Collins of South Grafton, MA, David (Rachel) Ferguson of Bangor, Me, Carol Soucie-Drew of Brunswick, ME, and Kimberly (Glenn) Taggett of Caribou, ME.
