Gilbert Bell, 95, died July 24, 2024 at Caribou with his family by his side. He was born in Caribou, November 1, 1928 the son of Henry and Lucie (Hebert) Bell. Gilbert attended Caribou Schools and served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Maxine Thibodeau on November 9, 1954 and together they shared nearly 70 years of marriage.
Mr. Bell worked for 85 years in produce departments, including as produce manager, for several area grocery stores. He was a lifetime member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and was a member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW. Gil loved the outdoors, especially fishing with family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Maxine of Caribou, are his children, Michael Bell and wife Ann of Scarborough, Jeffrey Bell and wife Susan of Caribou, Debra Ward and husband Kirk of Stockholm, Lisa Willey and husband Ricky of Sinclair, one sister, Cecile Cammilleri of Enfield, CT, ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Mr. Bell was predeceased by his parents, one brother Wilfred Bell, and sisters, Mary Michaud and Margaret Squirrel.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, from 10AM until time of services which will be held at 12 Noon from the chapel of the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow in the Old Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
