WADE - Gary Lee Holmes, 58, of Wade, passed away unexpectedly on January 27th, 2024.
Gary was born on September 20, 1965 in Presque Isle to Stanley “Hap” and Velma Holmes. Gary was a graduate of Washburn High School, class of 1983.
Gary was full of life. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He could light up any room that he entered and could make anybody laugh.
Gary’s favorite thing in life was his friends and his family. He would go out of his way to help anyone at anytime. He loved the demolition derby, Corvettes and collecting coins. Gary also enjoyed four-wheeling and fishing.
Gary spent his entire life working as a self-employed logger for the family business, Holmes Bros Logging Inc. Gary worked very closely everyday with his brother, Alan Holmes and his nephew, Steven Holmes.
Gary is survived by his lifelong partner, Marie Dickinson. He is also survived by his mother, Velma Holmes of Presque Isle, his brother, Alan Holmes of Wade and his sister, Diane (Holmes) Good of Presque Isle. Gary never had any children of his own, but treated Marie’s children, Justin Dickinson and Cassie White and her grandchildren, Chandler and Bailey, like they were his own. Gary also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. Gary is predeceased by his father, Stanley “Hap” Holmes and by his brother, Olaus “Duke” Clark.
There will be no calling hours or service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Interment will be held at Washburn Riverside Extension in the spring.
