LIMESTONE – George Saggese, 77, passed away June 14, 2020 in Caribou. He was born in Flushing, NY, May 16, 1943 the son of the late Gerard and Virginia (Mandel) Saggese. Mr. Saggese served with the US Air Force as a refrigeration and air conditioning specialist for over 22 years. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he was employed with the federal government at Loring for over 20 years with the last 9 years of his service with Defense Finance and Accounting Service. He married Donna Learnard, July 3, 1965. George was a member of the Henry B. Pratt American Legion Post 15. Surviving in addition to his wife of nearly 55 years, Donna, of Limestone, are a son, Kevin Saggese and wife Cindy of Limestone, and a daughter, Melanie Cook and husband John of Cheyenne, WY, one brother Neil Saggese of FL, three grandchildren, Makayla and Brayden Cook, and Devin Saggese. George was predeceased by his brother, Gerard. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the wonderful staff of Maine Veterans Home – Caribou, for the fine care and compassion shown to George and the family these past several years. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of George may do so through your favorite veterans’ organization. Private family services will be held at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou.
