Caribou-Floyd Stanley Kinney, 83 beloved husband of Lantie Kinney, went to be with his Lord and Savior unexpectedly April 7, 2012. He was born in Wade April 19, 1928 the son of the late John and Myrtie (Butterfield) Kinney. He was a 1948 graduate of Washburn High School where he was a member of the FFA and was named Star State Farmer. He served with the US Army during Korea, and he married Lantie Ketch April 30, 1955. For over 40 years, Mr. Kinney was a telephone technician with Bell Telephone, AT&T and more recently Lucent Technologies. He was a longtime and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Woodland, where he served as a deacon and numerous other capacities and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the ACCA. Floyd was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family at their Cross Lake Camp. He enjoyed canoeing and took many trips on the Allagash Waterway. Floyd always planted a large garden and was an avid high school basketball fan. He loved the land, the trees flowers and wildlife. Surviving in addition to his loving wife of over 56 years, Lantie of Caribou are his three daughters and sons in law: Sandy and Mel Caldwell of Clayton, N.C, Cindy and JP Levasseur of Caribou and Joan and Leonard Holmes of Saco. Two sisters, Ethel Spooner and Gladys Young both of Limestone. Six grandchildren Jemmelie Pachiano and her husband Adam, Karli and Zachary Smith, Christopher Ventura and his wife Emily, and Elanna and Samuel Lalezari. Two great grandchildren Karson Stanley Reidy and Natalie Rae Ventura. A daughter in law Jeanne Kinney of New Brunswick Canada. Several nieces and nephews. Mr. Kinney was predeceased by a son John in 1987, two brothers Gordon and John Jr. and a sister Crystal O’Neil. Friends may call at the First Baptist Church of Woodland 11:30 am Wednesday April 11, 2012 until time of services. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm from the church with the Rev. Ron Rosser, assisted by Floyd’s nephew Rev. Stephen Young. Following the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments in the church dining area. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr. Kinney may do so through the First Baptist Church of Woodland Memorial fund.
