CARIBOU – Floyd E. Burby Sr., 71, passed away December 29, 2016 at his Caribou residence. He was born in Ashland, December 30, 1944 the son of the late Ellery and Alica (Colbeth) Burby. Mr. Burby was employed by several area logging operations, Indian Head Plywood, and McDonald’s. He was a member of the Caribou Assembly of God. He married Gloria Gagnon, September 17, 2011. Surviving in addition to his wife of Caribou, are his children, Steven Jones of Caribou, Alica Burby of Mapleton, Sheila Blair and husband Rodney of Virginia, Penny Maynard and husband Perry of Mapleton, and Flora Yale and husband Chris of Mars Hill, 5 brothers, Larry Burby and wife Susan, Donnie Burby and wife Christine, Perley Burby and wife Gail, Roger Burby all of Ashland, and Douglas Burby and wife Claire of Masardis, 5 sisters, Frances Condon and husband Chester of Portage, Althea Mowerson of MA, Susan Smart and husband Fred of Presque Isle, Julie Belanger and husband Ronald of Ashland, and Bonnie Chapius and husband Ronald of AZ, 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Mr. Burby was predeceased by a son, Floyd “BJ” Burby, two brothers, Norman, and Robbie, and a sister, Donna. Friends may call Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou from 12 noon until time of services which will be held from the funeral home at 2pm with Rev. Richard Bell, officiating. Interment will be in the Fairmont Cemetery, Presque Isle. Following the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the Caribou Assembly of God Activity Center. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr. Burby may do so through the Caribou Assembly of God Building Fund, or Hospice of Aroostook. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Ruth Collins and everyone at Hospice of Aroostook for the fine care and compassion shown to Floyd and the family.
