Florence Gallagher

March 14, 1928 — May 31, 2019

Caribou - Florence Gallagher, 91 went to be with her Lord May 31, 2019 at Caribou. She was born in Woodland March 14, 1928, the daughter of the late Magnus and Laura (Hafford) Monson. She was a 1944 graduate of Caribou High School as well as a 1964 graduate of the LPN program at N.M.V.T.I., where she was nursing class president as well as valedictorian. She married Burnell Gallagher July 3, 1946 , who predeceased her in 2007 following 61 years of marriage. She was employed at Cary Memorial Hospital as well as the office of Dr. Fred Gregory. Florence was a faithful member of the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church for 73 years, where she served as director of the youth choir and certified lay speaker. Many will remember Florence for her beautiful voice as she sang in the church choir for many years. She also sang in the Caribou Choral Society for twenty-six years and was a member of the Lister Knowlton VFW Post 9389 Ladies Auxiliary, serving as Chaplain. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Suzanne Gallagher of Thomaston, and Jon and Karen Gallagher of Rockland; four grandchildren, Michael, Jillian, Monica, and Sarah and husband Thomas Pollard; four great grandchildren, Madison, Lily, Lauren and Benjamin; her sister, Patricia Conroy of Grants Pass, OR; several nieces and nephews and many close friends.  Florence was predeceased by her daughter Jane as well as several brothers and sisters. A celebration of Florence’s life will be held July 19 at 1 P.M. at Gray Memorial Methodist Church.  Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Florence may do so through the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
