Floyd Quist

July 23, 1943 — September 15, 2021

CARIBOU - Floyd Quist, 78, died on September 15, 2021 at a local nursing home.  Although his health had been failing and he was fully vaccinated, Covid-19 took his life. Floyd would want to encourage folks that getting vaccinated protects others. Floyd retired after working 40 years with Maine Bag Co. Before his declining health he and, his wife, Mable enjoyed traveling near and far regardless if it was on an airplane, a car trip or best of all on their four wheeler.  Floyd looked forward to four wheeler adventures with friend Matt Williams as they worked side by side on the Williams Trail.  Family gatherings were also a joy to him especially if he could make his bean hole beans and play horse shoes. Floyd is survived by his wife, Mable, of 51 years. Step-son and wife Leroy and Dora of New Mexico.  Daughter in law Vaida of Ft Fairfield.  Three step grandchildren Adam, Leroy Jr & Misty, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.  His brother and wife Gerald & Rita Quist of Mass. Sisters-in-law Evelyn Fournier of Caribou and Joyce & Bob Miller of KY.  A very special God child, Erica and husband Noel Skerry of Mass.  And several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Hjalmar and  Florentine Quist, step son Darrell, sisters Margaret, Marie and Carolyn. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 24, 2021  2:00pm at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. Please be mindful of others by practicing social distancing and wearing a face covering. In lieu of flowers please get vaccinated to protect you and others and  make a donation to a local charity of your choice. Because she was unable to be with Floyd during his last days, Mable would like to thank the RNs, CNAs and Dr. Caleb Swanberg for the compassion and kindness they shared with Floyd and her.
