Elmer D. Nadeau, 81, died September 4, 2025 at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou with his family at his side. He was born in Caribou, February 24, 1944 the son of the late Joseph and Agatha (Michaud) Nadeau. Elmer attended the Hill School, Connor School, Caribou High School, and earned his GED later in life. Elmer grew up in a family where hard work was prioritized. Elmer and his 8 siblings would help with household chores like stacking wood, farm labor and milking the cows. Elmer served in the United States Army, where he served in the 82nd Airborne. Elmer completed his basic training at Fort Dix, and then was stationed at Fort Bragg. Elmer did a tour of duty in the Dominican Republic where he earned several National Achievement Awards. Following his military service he settled in Connecticut where he worked as an ironworker. In 1967 he married Linda (Theriault) Nadeau, who predeceased him in 1999.

Linda, Elmer and their two sons eventually moved back to Aroostook County where he was a self-employed woodcutter for over 30 years. He served in the Maine Army National Guard for 22 years earning the rank of Sergeant. Elmer was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 9389 in Caribou, and a member of the Caribou A.T.V. Club.

Elmer is survived by his two sons, Donald Nadeau and wife Georgia of Medford, Oregon, and Eric Nadeau and wife Tanya of Fort Fairfield, grandchildren, Anthony Nadeau and wife Amber, Michael Nadeau, Mylinda Nadeau, and Thomas Nadeau and fiancée Elizabeth Patrick, one very special great-grandson, Archer Brady Elmer Nadeau, siblings, Nancy Dube of Connor, Robert Nadeau of Caribou, Norman Nadeau of Wolcott, CT, Leatrice Levesque of Southington, CT, Arthur Nadeau and wife Julie of FL, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Elmer was predeceased by siblings Albert, Martha, Edwina, Edward, Richard, and Charlene.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 9AM until time of services which will be held at 11AM from the chapel of the funeral home with Fr. Thomas Xavier officiating. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the veteran’s organization of your choice.
