CARIBOU -- Ellen Marie (Cassidy) Corrow, 84, died unexpectedly January 13, 2022. She was born in Fort Fairfield on July 1, 1937. Ellen, known in the family as “Ree,” was the daughter of Wilfred and Loretta (Allison) Cassidy and the wife of the late Greg Corrow. Ellen’s early years were on the family farm on Dinsmore Road. Her love of family and others was shaped by traditions of her heritage; she enjoyed the many gatherings of her large clan of relatives in Canada. In 1954, she graduated from Fort Fairfield HS keeping lifelong friendships. Ellen attended Mount Saint Mary College in NH and later graduated UM-Presque Isle proudly earning her nursing degree. Her career at Cary Medical Center spanned over 50 years of fulfillment as she loved the art of nursing, coming into people’s lives to show care, the teamwork of the staff, and being challenged with learning something new every day. In her semi-retirement, she continued to work as needed providing vaccines, blood pressure checks, and health guidance at various community functions. Ellen embraced opportunities to enrich her life and the lives of others around her. She enjoyed and supported her community golf course, wellness center, library, performing arts center, and Holy Rosary Church. A member of the Cary Auxiliary, she also served as a ballot clerk on election day for numerous years. On January 28, 1956, Ellen married her sweetheart Greg and together they raised five boys and a girl. Over 65 years they celebrated and cherished many wonderful achievements as the family grew and extended. Ellen was blessed with wonderful friendships taking delight in going out to lunch, traveling to new cities, listening to music, shopping/antiquing, golfing, playing bridge, being in book clubs, and being a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
