Caribou – It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Edwina Mary Daigle, on April 3, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at Caribou Rehab and Nursing. She was born in Soldier Pond, December 26, 1922, the daughter of the late Leo and Melonia (Bouchard) Bossie. She married Patrick Daigle in 1940 and he predeceased her in 1992. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, Catholic Golden Age, was a member of the church choir for many years and did her Cursillo in 1993. Mrs. Daigle was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family and was also employed for several years at Birds Eye as well as the Hilltop School. Following the death of her son, Clayton Daigle, who was killed while serving in South Korea, Edwina, was a 50 year Gold Star Mother. Edwina was well known for her cooking and baking and always enjoyed sharing the fruits of her labor. She loved gardening, knitting, and watching her favorite basketball team, the Boston Celtics. She is survived by her children, Jacqueline Shaw of Caribou, Irene Larouche and husband Reginald of Florida, Darrell Daigle and wife Gloria of Alfred, Guilda LaChance and husband Gary, of Lincoln, Diane Daigle, Chicopee, Mass., Juilette Heinlen and husband Larry of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Patricia Brown and husband Allan of Agawam, Mass., three sisters Ella Dumond, Regina St. Jarre, and Bertha Bard, a brother-in-law Clarence Daigle and wife Rona, two sisters-in-law, Leone Poplaski and Nancy Daigle, fourteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Daigle was predeceased by a son-in-law Jack Shaw. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, from the Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery. Following the services all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the Lister Knowlton Post 9389 VFW. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Rev. David Raymond, Rev. Augustin Sebasthiyan, the staff at Cary Medical Center, Caribou Nursing Home, the Ladies VFW Auxiliary and the Ladies of St. Anne for all of the kindness and compassion shown to Edwina and her family these past few weeks.
