Dorothy Bouchard

Caribou – Dorothy Bouchard, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Maine Veterans’ Home – Caribou.  She was born in Caribou on January 2, 1929 a daughter of Joseph and Annie (Boucher) St Peter.  Dorothy was the widow of the late Robert Bouchard Sr. who died in 1995.  They were married for 47 years.  She was a lifelong resident of North Caribou where she was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Dorothy was the youngest of a very large family and her parents did not have the means to provide for a high school or college education.  However, she always stressed the importance of a good education to her sons.  She was a meticulous homemaker, always at home when her children returned from school.

Later, she and her husband owned and operated Bouchard’s Grocery on the Van Buren Road from 1969 to 1987.  At their business, she was very well known for her homemade Italian sandwiches and pickled eggs.  She was a Life Member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Dorothy was predeceased by all her siblings and her husband Robert.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Stanley P. and Luisa Bouchard of Naples Florida, Robert L. and Greta Bouchard of Fort Myers, FL and David A. and Ruth Bouchard of Caribou.  Seven grandchildren Christopher Bouchard, Aryan Bouchard-Monroe, Chiantelle Bouchard, Chantel Magaletta, Adrienne Bouchard.  Also, Matthew (Kerry) Bouchard and Andrew (Julie) Bouchard of Caribou; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
