Delores Tardie

CARIBOU – Delores Tardie, ended her stay here with loved ones, passing quietly and peacefully to heaven while surrounded by family and friends on February 1, 2020 at Cary Medical Center. She was born in Eagle Lake, June 25, 1937, the daughter of the late Eloi and Mamie (Albert) Tardie. Delores was proudly employed as an assistant engineer at Anderson Lab in Connecticut for many years, prior to returning home after her retirement. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne and the Daughters of Isabella. She was a long-standing care caregiver, beginning with the care provided to both of her parents. She assisted Lottie during the time of her husband’s injury and travelled each week to “the farm” to assist her aunt Nin. Delores cared for her sister Gail, then assisted with loving care to her brothers Wilmer and Elmer. She worried about family and friends consistently and always found ways to make life a bit easier for them. She will always be remembered for her quick, keen wit; always having a reply to even the most innocent comment. Her laughter was contagious. Her generosity and compassion to others was a well-kept secret, only known to a few around her. Her “non-working” stove (it really did work) contributed to the development of deep friendships with patrons of Reno’s and the Par and Grill. She enjoyed her annual fourth of July boat rides offered by her cousin Don. Family reunions with Lionel and Laurette were the conversation points throughout the following year. She awaited the annual visits of Brenda and Diane so she could spend quality time at the camp. An annual get together with classmates was always welcomed and enjoyed. She planned weekend drives to the North to visit close friends. As she was able, she would travel to visit areas that she had never explored and visit family members. She wanted to adopt Tom as her brother and had special relationships with Kendall and Bob. She relished all her great nieces and nephews. Because she missed having children around her, she would elicit conversation with children of friends within restaurants she frequented. Delores loved her many nieces and nephews, and was especially grateful to Fred Nadeau, Diane Lemieux, Brenda Lamarre, Pam Mattos, and Mark Tardie and all those family members who maintained regular contact with her. She is survived by one sister, Albertine Nadeau of New York. She is also survived by many special cousins and friends. Ms. Tardie was predeceased by three sisters, Ernestine Lemieux, Christine Lamarre, and Gail Tardie, four brothers, Elmer, Wilmer, Albert, and Alvin Tardie, Jr. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the charity of your choice on her behalf. Delores established a “Tardie fund” with the Aroostook Agency on Aging in 2012 in order to assist caregivers who are providing care to loved ones in the County. Contributions will be accepted to this fund as well. Delores comment to everyone she knew well, “You’re going to miss me when I’m gone” cuts deep into the hearts of those who knew her as indeed, she is deeply missed and will never be forgotten. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am, Saturday, February 8, 2020 from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Following the service all are invited to visit with the family in the parish hall. Spring interment will be in the Eagle Lake Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Cary Medical for their attention, compassion, and tenderness shown to Delores and the family while she was there.
